HealHaus

An app for a Black-owned Brooklyn wellness space — healers, modalities, live classes, workshops, and on-demand video under one roof, organized around mind, body, and spirit.

Context

A community space built to challenge the stigmas of holistic health

HealHaus is a Black-owned wellness space in Brooklyn, with a roster of healers working across yoga, meditation, breathwork, energy work, sound, astrology, tarot, nutrition, and therapy.

The mission is access. HealHaus builds inclusive community spaces that challenge the stigmas around holistic health — who it's for, and what it looks like.

Complication

The offer only existed in the room

[Context needed: what made the app necessary — pandemic closure, growth beyond the Brooklyn space, or both?]

A dozen modalities, a rotating roster of healers, live classes, workshops, and a growing on-demand library. In person, a guest could ask the front desk where to start. On a phone, that guidance had to be designed into the product.

Approach

Mind, body, spirit as the information architecture

The brand already spoke in three aspects. We made them the structure.

Every class, video, workshop, and healer sits under mind, body, or spirit. The same three categories drive navigation, onboarding, personalization, and the symbol system — one model a new user learns once and reads everywhere.

Product strategy, design, and creative direction ran as one role, with Sanctuary Computer on the build.

Positioning

A home for your healing

Not a fitness app with a meditation tab. A guide: the app asks what you want to work on, then routes you to the people and practices that fit.

Identity System

The identity had to work at app-icon scale and hold a practice as quiet as breathwork without going soft.

Logo. A compact HealHaus lockup with an arc that draws itself closed — the mark doubles as the loader.

Symbols. Three families, one per aspect. Mind is built from squares and circles. Body from heavier, rounded octagons. Spirit from pattern — stripes, bars, checks. Each set is distinct at a glance and clearly related, so a category reads before its label does.

Color. Warm skin and clay tones, honey and marigold accents, black for type. Nine secondary hues split across the three aspects.

Breath. The loading animation runs on a breath cycle: inhale, hold, exhale. Opening the app starts with one breath.

App Experience

Onboarding. Three questions do the front-desk work. Which aspects of self are you looking to develop? Which modalities would you like to explore? Which qualities do you want to cultivate — calm, clarity, strength, grounding, compassion? The answers drive everything a new member sees next.

Three questions do the work a front desk does in person.

Today. The home screen is a daily plan: your classes, recommended videos, upcoming workshops. Each aspect gets its own category page with its own color and symbol.

Library and people. On-demand video, live classes with booking, and healer profiles — each healer's modalities, upcoming classes, and videos on one page. Search and filter run on the same aspect and modality taxonomy as onboarding.

Profile. A member's history — classes taken, healers followed, saved videos — reflected back as practice over time.
